Café Köket was born in year 2007 out of an idea to unite world-class customer service with top-quality offering of foods and drinks at one of the most beautiful locations in Helsinki, the market square, right next to the famous statue, Havis Amanda.
Now, on the verge of our sixth season and fifth birthday, we are developing our café-concept one step further. We are going to start our 2012 season already in March, at the beautiful Esplanade stage, where we are going to build a Cultural Café serving customers for five weeks’ time. In the Cultural Café, there will be an art-exhibition of photographs taken by the owner of the café as a part of a charity-project, topped up with live music and variety of public lectures about contemporary issues. Naturally we also serve our delicious foods and drinks for cultural people to enjoy.
The Cultural Café´s preliminary opening day for public is 5.3.2012, at 10am, but because the stage at Esplanade is undergoing some minor repair, we withhold the right for changes in the opening schedule.
Changes for Café Köket´s flagship-café at market square are also to be expected. Our facilities will undergo a minor metamorphosis, and the appearance of our café will be changed to be more functional and customer-friendly and easily approachable. The theme of our summertime café in 2012 will be the Baltic Sea, and there will be a spectacular Beneath the Waves of the Baltic Sea –exhibition held in the market, organized by Abyss Art Ltd. We want to increase attention towards the devastated state of our beloved Baltic Sea, and on our own behalf also help to create more sustainable city-culture, and eventually altogether better society.
We will be opening our business at market square in May 2012. Our concept there will mainly stay as it has been in the previous years, but with some innovative changes we are able to serve you, our dear customers, with even better quality ingredients and higher level of service than before. In all of our actions, we are strongly taking in consideration the importance of ecological issues and the origins of our foodstuff, and while paying attention to customers with special dietary needs, we aim to make most of our products in-house in our own kitchen, using pure and organic ingredients in our food production as much as possible.
